       Agnes Raffety, age 80, died January 31, 1977. She was born October 5, 1896.

        She married Finley S. Raffety on February 12, 1914. He died March 22, 1969.

       They owned and operated Raffety’s Grocery Store in Chaffee for a number of years.

       She is survived by a son, Paul B. Raffety; two daughters, Mrs. John Vowels and Mrs. John Kasonie.

       She was a member of First Baptist Church in Chaffee.

       Finley Raffety, age 80, died March 22, 1969. He resided at 415 N. Main Street. He was born February 19, 1889 in Elizabethtown, KY to Thomas and Margaret  Shively Raffety. He married Agnes Fowler February 12, 1914.

       Surviving is his wife, a son’ Paul Raffety, daughters; Mrs. John Vowels and Mrs. John Kasonic a sister; Mrs. Burnett Swank.

RAINEY, VELMA

Velma Irene Rainey, 81, of Chaffee died Nov. 3, 2002, at Chaffee Nursing Center.

She was born July 24, 1921, in Haleyville, Ala., daughter of William and Alice Elizabeth Flanagan Head. She and Walter Rainey were married March 19, 1941, in Corinth, Miss. He died Feb. 22, 1987.

Rainey was a member of Mount Auburn Christian Church in Cape Girardeau and Gold Star Mothers with Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include two sons, Randy Rainey of Chaffee, Tracy Rainey of Honolulu, Hawaii; two daughters, Nancy Clark of Pontiac, Ill., Phyllis Arrowsmith of Beebe, Ark.; a stepson, Carl Rainey of Peachtree, Ga.; a brother, Wallace Head of Chaffee; three sisters, Della Cobb of Chaffee, Sue Angel of Advance, Mo., Shirley Statler of Oviedo, Fla.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.   She was preceded in death by a son and three sisters.

The funeral will be at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, burial will be in Union Park Cemetery.

       Walter Rainey, age 75, died February 22, 1987. He was born May 4, 1911 in Lawrence Co., AL to Wm. Andrew and Cora Delia Key Rainey. He married Velma Head on March 19, 1941 at Corinth, MS.

       He is survived by three sons, Randy, Tracy and Carl Rainey; two daughters, Nancy Clark and Phyllis Arrowsmith and a sister. Mrs.. Audrey McCaaghren.

       He resided at 121 Elliott.

       Junia Rains, age 85, died May 5, 1991. She was born April 7, 1906 in Watts, AR to Harmon Drank and Alcedine Watts Barnes. She married  Blain Rains on August 8, 1926. He died September 24, 1972.

       She is survived by two sons, Dwaine and Samuel Rains; three daughters, Vena Nelson, Wanda Johns and Tula Eskew and two sisters, Kate Branum and Elba Griffin. One son Glendle Rains preceded her in death.

            Services for Mrs Minnie R. Ramsey, wife of Vern Ramsey of Chaffee were conducted at 2 Wednesday of last week at St. Paul Lutheran Church by the Rev. G. B. Seboldt. Interment was in Union Park Cemetery. The body was at Bisplinghoff Funeral Home.

            Mrs. Ramsey, 69 years old, died Dec. 11, at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Riley at Malden, MO where she had been staying since becoming ill nine days previously.

            Born Aug. 5, 1892, at Dutchtown, MO, Mrs. Ramsey was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Geiser. She and Mr. Ramsey were married in September 1915 and spent their entire married life in Chaffee.

            Mrs. Ramsey was a member of St. Paul’S Church and of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers.

            Survivors besides her husband and the daughter are a brother, Edwin Geiser, of Plymouth, MI, three sisters Mrms. Emily Struby of Cape, Mrs. Paul Williams of Wilmington, OH and Mrs. E. A. Brosch of Wichita Falls, TX and two grandchildren.

       He is survived by a daughter Mrs. Kenneth (Helen) Riley.

       He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chaffee and resided at 421 W. Yoakum. He had lived in Chaffee since 1910.

Earl Ray

       Earl Ray, age 61, died May 19, 1965.  Mr. Ray died unexpectedly Thursday when at the throttle of a northbound Frisco passenger train, when between Cape and Festus.  He resided at 113 Wright Avenue. He was born April 27, 1904 at Zalma, MO to Frank and Louise Roberts Ray. He married Dona Malin of Kennett, MO on March 25, 1924. He was employed by the Frisco Railway Company as a fireman on November 16, 1923.

       He was a member of the First Christian Church in Chaffee.

       Surviving were his wife, son; Earl M. Ray, daughters; Mrs. Leroy (Betty) Santorski and Jrs. June Ney, sister; Mrs. Charles Hooker.

       Burial was in Union Park Cemetery.

       In a note received in 1981 from his daughter Betty stated that when her mother passed away they would be moving Mr. Ray to bury him in Sheppard Hills Cemetery in Imperial, MO.

       Fred Ray, age 84, died December 5, 1979. He was born October 15, 1895 in Greenville, MO to Abner Taylor and Pauli Anna Pickett Ray.

Sue Reddish

Sue Reddish, 72, of Chaffee died Sept. 9, 2007, at her home.

She was born Aug. 11, 1935, in London, Ark., daughter of Graden and Mildred Brown Davis.

Reddish had owned and operated Pancake House in Manteno, Ill., and later was manager at Sisters Restaurant in Chaffee. She was a member of the General Baptist Church at Randles and American Legion Auxiliary in Manteno.

Survivors include two sons, Michael Jackson of Bell City, Mo., Jeffrey Van Blaracum of Pearl City, Hawaii; four daughters, Pattie Friga, Rene Wilhite and Stefanie Urhahn of Chaffee, Pamela Burks of Tunica, Miss.; her mother of Chaffee; three brothers, Charles Crowden, Graden "Butch" Davis and Randy Davis of Chaffee; five sisters, Glenda Blue, Doris Parker, Norma Parker and Debbie Cook of Chaffee, Lynn Whitehead of Helena, Ark.; 17 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, two brothers and a sister.

A memorial service will be held at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. The Rev. Don Leggett will officiate.

Charles Roland Redfern of Bonne Terre, Mo., formerly of Chaffee, was born April 18, 1939, passed away Oct. 21, 1971 at the age of 32 years, 6 months, and 3 days.

He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. Redfern of Chaffee, Mo. They survive.
He was united in marriage April 18, 1961 to Marilyn Sue Friedrich, she survives.

He is also survived by 1 daughter, Carla Sue, at home.
He is survived by 1 brother Robert E. Redfern, Chaffee, Mo; 2 sisters Mrs. Bob Wachter, Chaffee, Mo., and Mrs. Keith Keller, Rockview, Mo., his maternal grandfather William F. Proffer, Chaffee and a host of otherrelatives and friends.
He was employed by St. Joe Minerals in the IBM department at the Bonne Terre, Mo. office.
He had served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force.
Services were held at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance with Rev. W. S. Bailey of Perkins officiating, burial was in Morgan Memorial Park.

       Iris Redfern, age 79, died March 30, 1989. She was born March 8, 1910 in Aid, MO to Wm. Franklin and Olive Williams Proffer. She married Robert Redfern on April 6, 1929.

     Mrs. Mary Lousia Redfern, 76 years old, died at her home near here at 7 a.m. today following a heart attack suffered shortly after arising. She had been in good health.

    Born April 8, 1869, at Terre Haute, In, she moved with her family to a farm near Oran when she was six years old. Sixty years ago she married Albert Redfern, the couple walking from their homes near Lone Rock, between Oran and Chaffee, to Benton to have the ceremony performed.

    Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Assembly of God Church, with burial in Union Park Cemetery. The body will be at the Bisplinghoff Funeral Home until time for services.

   Mrs. Redfern is survived by her husband, four daughters, Mrs. Wm Bell, Mrs. Anna Sanders, Mrs. Joe Proctor and Mrs. T.E. Slinkard, two sons, William and Robert Redfern, all of Chaffee, a half brother, Charles Robinson of Cape, 22 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

 

   

Robert E Redfern

Robert "Bob" Redfern, 77, of Chaffee died Dec. 19, 2006, at the Lutheran Home. He was born Nov. 14, 1929, at Chaffee, son of Robert H. and Iris Eileen Proffer Redfern.

He and Vera Mae Westrich were married Jan. 31, 1953.

Redfern was a self-employed electrician, formerly owned Ace Trash Service and Ace Package in Chaffee, and had been a security guard with Wolsey Investigation. He was a veteran. He was a member of VFW Post 3127 and American Legion Post 389 in Chaffee.

Survivors include his wife and a sister, Becky Scheeter of Chaffee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.

There is no visitation. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield. The Rev. Ralph Duffner will officiate.

       Robert H. Redfern, age 66, died June 8, 1975. He was born July 23, 1908 in Chaffee to Albert and Molly Bird Redfern. He married Iris Eileen Proffer of Chaffee on April 6, 1929. He was employed in the Water Service Department for the Firsco Railway Company. From 1965 to 1971 he owned and operated Redfern’s Tavern in Chaffee.

       Surviving is a son; Robert E. Redfern, daughters; Mrs. Bob R. (Sue) Wachter and Mrs. Keith (Becky) Keller, brother; Wm. Redfern and a sister, Mrs. Truman (Mabel) Slinkard. He was preceded in death by a son Charles who died October 21, 1971.

       Thomas Reeves, age 68, died May 10, 1967. He resided in Allenville, MO. He was born August 30. 1898 in Piggott, AR to George A. and Laurenda Wade Reeves. He married Effie Bruns in 1927 and she died, he then married Mrs. Mabel Rogers of Edwardsville, MO in 1934.

       Survivors were his wife and a son George Reeves.

 

 

REISENBICHLER, ELTON HERBERT

Elton Herbert Reisenbichler, 86, of Chaffee, Mo., died June 21, 2008, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born July 27, 1921, in New Wells, Mo., son of Martin and Anna Erlbacher Reisenbichler.

He and Esther E. Koenig were married Sept. 27, 1947.

Reisenbichler was a retired plant manager at Ceramo Co. in Jackson. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chaffee and a member of the Chaffee Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3127.

He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Bosque during World War II.

He is survived by his wife; six sons, Ronald Reisenbichler of Brownwood, Mo., David Reisenbichler of Dixon, Mo., Roger, Scott "Scoob" and Michael Reisenbichler of Chaffee, Kevin "Pete" Reisenbichler of Jackson; a sister, Anitia Morrison of Uniontown, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.

The funeral will be at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Wayne Schwiesow officiating.

Interment with full military honors will be Tuesday in Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee.

 

 

Mrs. E. A. Reissaus

Signal-March 20, 1958

            Mrs. E. A. Reissaus, 66 years old, a former resident of Cape and Chaffee, died unexpectedly march 11 at a hospital in Carbondale, IL where she had resided the past two years. Mrs. Reissaus was admitted to the hospital Monday night following a heart attack and on Tuesday morning her condition was thought to be much improved. She had not been ill previous to the attack.

            While residing in Cape in the late 1930’s and early 1940’s, Mrs. Reissaus was an active member of the Christ Episcopal Church and Chapter BI P.E.O. She was an accomplished elocutionist and gave generously of her talents. Her husband was the insurance and investment business at that time and is now a representative of the Snotone Hearing Aid, holding clinics in Cape regularly. The couple’s elder son married the former Miss Patsy Vandivort of Cape.

            Mrs. Reissaus was reared in Dexter, MO, the former Kathryn McMullin. Previous to her marriage to Mr. Reissaus on May 18, 1918, she attended Teachers College and taught in the schools of Southeast Missouri including the public schools at Dexter and Chaffee.

            Following their marriage, the couple resided in Chaffee for over 30 years where Mr. Reissaus was president of the old First National Bank.  They moved to Cape in the late 1930’s and to Carbondale in 1944. In later years, they moved to Dexter, returning to Carbondale about two years ago.

            In addition to her husband surviving are two sons Charles Reissaus of Western Springs, IL and Wm. Reissaus of Carbondale, a daughter, Mrs. Jack Fortner of El Paso, TX, a brother and seven grandchildren.

            Funeral services were conducted Friday at 10 a.m., at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Carbondale by Rev. W. John Harris, Commital service was at noon Friday at Memorial park Cemetery in Cape.

 

Mrs. Jessie Reissaus

Chaffee-1963-Missourian

    Mrs. Jessie Rammage Reissaus, 77 years old, a former Chaffee and Oran resident, died Friday at a Charleston nursing home after a two month illness.

    Mrs. Reissaus was the widow of C.P. Reissaus, a banker here and at Oran. He died four years ago.

    Mrs. Reissaus was born December 20, 1886, at Vinton, Io. Surviving relatives in the area include two nephews, Wm. Reissaus, Carbondale Ill., and Vernon C. Anderson, Sikeston.

     The body is at the Bisplinghoff Funeral Home here. Services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 in the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape.

 

   

RESSEL, MARY ANN

Mary Ann Ressel, 38, died March 17, 2004, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born Aug. 23, 1965, in Pontiac, Mich., daughter of Sherry Brumbaugh. She and Ron Ressel were married March 3, 1984.

Ressel was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and daughters of St. Ambrose.

    Mrs. Chlora Revelle, 76 years old, a former resident of Chaffee, died early this morning at a hospital in Granite City, Il.

    Mrs. Revelle was born December 22, 1888, at Fruitland, Missouri. She was the former Miss Chlora McNeeley and was married in 1910 to Melvin Revelle. He died in 1963.

    Surviving are three sons, Russel of Compton, Ca, James of Potosi, Missouri, and Carroll Revelle, Dexter, five daughters, Mrs. G.R. (Leona Trimble, Los Altos, Ca, Mrs. J. D. (Jewell) Cully, Royal Oak, Mi, Mrs. Bill (Jean) Beevers, Roseville, Mi, Mrs. R. L. (Audrey) Kitchen, Granite City and Mrs. Woodrow (Katie) Proctor, Cape Girardeau.

     Alice Ann Rhodes, 60, Whitewater Route 1, died Monday February 22, 1993, at St. Francis Medical Center.

     She was born November 23, 1932, in Blytheville, AR, daughter of George Hugh and Velma Lucille Davis Mosley. She and William W. Rhodes were married January 30, 1953.

     Survivors include her husband; four sons, Ralph Rhodes of Whitewater, Mark Rhodes of Fenton, MO, Jon Rhodes of Columbia, Bill Rhodes of Chaffee, a daughter Laura Baert of Columbia; six grandchildren, and a great grandchild.

     She was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.

     Funeral was held at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. The Rev. Maurice Egan officiated with burial in Puxico Cemetery.

 

     

Margaret Rhodes

Margaret Hope Rhodes, 96, of Chaffee died March 15, 2007, at Chaffee Nursing Center.

She was born Nov. 13, 1910, in Cape Girardeau, Mo., daughter of W.H. "Bud" and Laura White Hickman. She and John C. Rhodes were married Sept. 23, 1929. He died April 24, 1974.

Rhodes was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Chaffee, the United Methodist Women, and the Ladies Auxiliary United Transportation Union.

Survivors include a son, William "Bill" Rhodes of Chaffee; a daughter, Phyllis Wilkinson of Hope, Mo.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a grandson.

Funeral will be at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Marty Blakey officiating.

Interment will be at Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Mo.

Joe Perry Rice Jr.

     Funeral service for Joe Perry Rice Jr., of Chaffee was held at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Douglas Pope officiating. Burial was in Union Park Cemetery.

     Rice, 57 years old, died September 30, 1986.

     He was born August 28, 1929, in St. Louis, son of Joseph Perry Rice Sr. and Mayme Clark Schields Rice. He married Janice Thornton on December 21, 1947.

     Rice was a switchman 11 years for the Frisco Railroad Company here. For the past 27 years he and his wife operated the Rice Insurance Agency.

     He was a member of First United Methodist Church here. He was also chairman of the board of trustees for the church. He was a member of Chaffee Elks Lodge 1810, and former member of the Chaffee School Board.

     Rice was a member of Chaffee Masonic Lodge 615, AF and AM. He was also in the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, Valle of St. Louis and the Orient of Missouri. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, and Shriner in the Moolah Temple, AAONMS of St. Louis director of the Bank of Chaffee 22 years, and member of the state board of Independent Missouri Insurance Agents the past 13 years.

     Survivors include his wife, two sons, Joe Perry Rice III of Chaffee and Howell Rice of Dallas, TX, a daughter, Julie Fels of St. Louis and five grandchildren.

       Claude Richbourg, age 69, died October 20, 1974. He resided at 115 W. Parker. He was born May 1, 1905 in Steel City, Nebraska to Donald J. and Alice Witt Richbourg. He married Nell G. Williams of St. Joseph, MO on February 3, 1923. They had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1973. They moved to Chaffee in 1943. He was employed for a number of years at Chaffee Ice and Coal Storage Company as a refrigeration engineer. When the company closed in 1955 he was then employed at the Chaffee High School as a bus driver and custodian until March 1971.

       He was a member of First Baptist Church in Chaffee.

       Surviving are his wife, sons; Donald Charles, Richard Jack, Wayne Claude, David Lee and Kenneth Joe Richbourg, daughters; Mrs. James (Charlotte) Akin and Connie Marie Richbourg.

Andrew F Riehl

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 for Andrew F. Riehl, 74 years old, who died Sunday night at a St. Louis hospital.

Mr. Riehl was born at Biehle, MO, September 9, 1891, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Riehl. He married Miss Louise Augusta Riehl of Hildebrand, March 5, 1912, and they moved to Chaffee in 1929. He was employed by the Frisco Railroad in 1917 as a fireman, became an engineer in 1937 and retired in 1959.

He was member of the First Baptist Church of Chaffee, and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers.

Surviving are his wife; a brother, Frank J. Riehl, St. Louis; a half brother, Tony Riehl, St. Louis; five half sisters, Mrs. Josephine Holtman, Santa Fe Springs, CA; Mrs. Julia Peterson, Downing, CA, Mrs Rose Marshall, St. Louis, Mrs. Everett Eudy, McClure IL, and Miss Louise Riehl, St. Louis; a granddaughter, Mrs. David Moore, St. Louis and a grandson, Van Riehl, Cape.

Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. R. L. Robinson officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape. Bisplinghoff Funeral Home was in charge of arrangement.

Leota Rievley, 84, of Chaffee died Aug. 21, 2005, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born March 3, 1921, in Rombauer, Mo., daughter of Thomas and Emma Foster. She and Philip Rievley were married May 29, 1937. He died Jan. 22, 1965.

Survivors include a son, Donald Rievley of Chaffee; two daughters, Mary Martin of Illiopolis, Ill., and Roberta Grojean of Chaffee; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances Key Pobst; a brother, Albert Foster; two sisters, Julie Badgett; and Ines Spradling; and a great-grandchild.

The funeral will be at the Amick-Burnett Funeral chapel, with the Rev. Cliff Day officiating. Burial will be in Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee.

Malissa Rigdon

Malissa S. Rigdon of Chaffee died May 12, 1989.

She was born in Barlow, KY, daughter of Walter and Sarah “Sally” Smith, on April 12, 1904.

On May 26, 1928, she married Oliver Eugene Rigdon of Chaffee.

Mrs. Rigdon graduated as Valedictorian of the 1922 graduating class of Chaffee and attended SEMO. She taught her first four years in a rural school near Chaffee and two years at Benton, MO. She resumed here teaching career in Chaffee Elementary School in 1950, retiring from her 4th grade teaching position in 1971. She served as President of the Chaffee PTA in 1950-51 and as the first President of the Chaffee Community Teachers Association.

She was elected President of the Scott County Women’s Democratic Club and served as the first President of the 10th Congressional District Women’s Democratic Club in 1935. She was elected in 1938 to be Vice-Chairman of the Democratic State Committee, and in May 1939 was Chairman and Hostess to Democratic Women from state committees in 11 Midwestern States in a regional conference at St. Louis.

She was an honored guest at a tea given by Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt in the White House in December of 1939.

Mrs. Rigdon was employed as a District Director of Women's Work under WPA and was instrumental in setting up the first hot lunch programs in this section of the state.

Having been a member of the First Baptist Church of Chaffee since the age 12, she served 28 years as Chairman of the Baptist Women’s Mission Group. She also served as a member of the Bereavement Committee, Director of Training Union, Church Receptionist and Director of the Adult Training Department.

As a former member of the Chaffee Business and Professional Women’s Club, she was their Woman of the Year in 1979. She was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter #48 and a member of the National Retired Teachers Association.

Mrs. Rigdon is survived by her husband; two grandchildren Mark Joseph and Kristie Kay Rigdon of Kennett, MO; a sister, Miss Eileen Smith of Chaffee and a brother, Dr. Norm R. Rigdon of Long Beach, CA. A son John David Rigdon of Kennett, died June 5, 1978.

Funeral services were held at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Wm. Ellis of Cape assisted by Rev. Charles Shrum. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape.

Myra Dixie Riley

Myra D. Riley, of St. Louis, died early Sunday morning November 13, 1983, in Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. She was 70 years old.

Mrs. Riley was born at Chaffee on September 4, 1913, the daughter of Wm. G. And Eliza Hytower Cox.

She married Fred Riley, of Oran, MO on April 4, 1929. He preceded her in death. She moved to St. Louis in 1961.

Survivors include one son, Wm. Ray Riley of St. Louis; two brothers, Adrian Cox, St. Louis, and Doyle Cox of Springfield, MO; two sisters, Mrs. Ocie Stewart, Lynn Creek, and Mrs. Violet Hampton of Chaffee; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a very close friend, Bob Brown of St. Louis.

She was preceded in death by three sons and two brothers.

Services were conducted at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Gerald Collier officiating. Burial was in Union Park Cemetery.

RINEHART, PHILLIP O

Philip O. Rinehart II, 65, of Chaffee died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2006, at his home.

He was born Aug. 28, 1941, in Columbus, Ohio, son of Philip O. and Pauline Snowden Rinehart. He and Sue Ann Jobe were married Dec. 11, 1969.

Rinehart had been a supervisor at Lonestar Gas Co. in Bryan, Texas. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church at Rockview, Mo.

He served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Danny Rinehart of Sikeston, Mo.; a daughter, Peggy Johnson of Austin, Texas; a sister, Caryll Rinehart of Atlanta, Ga.; two grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter.

The funeral will be at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, with the Rev. Mike Mahurin officiating. Burial will be in Union Park Cemetery

Sue Ann Rinehart, 63, died March 24, 2008, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born May 10, 1944, in Sikeston, to the late Fred and Margery White Job, she was a retired nurse from Crestview Retirement Home in Bryan, Texas, and a member of the General Baptist Church in Chaffee.

On Dec. 11, 1969, she married Philip O. Rinehart, who preceded her in death on Sept. 27, 2006.

One daughter, Leslie Ann Rinehart, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Danni Jobe and Danny and Karrie Rinehart of Chaffee; one daughter and son-in-law, Peggy Sue and Matthew Johnson of Austin, Texas; two brothers, Jim Jobe and Bill Jobe of Chaffee; one sister, Gail Irg of Chaffee; and five grandchildren.

Visitation and Funeral Services at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, the Rev. Daren Walker will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee.

Pallbearers will be: Matt Johnson, Paul Ivester, Gene Ing, Allen Lankford, Greg Jobe and Shawn Jobe.

       Arlie O. Rister, age 57, died June 4, 1965. He resided at 204 Frates. He was born March 7, 1908 in White County, IL to John Henry and Verna R. Jones Rister. He married Dora Mildred Stidham on August 6, 1931. He began working for the Frisco in 1927.

       He is survived by his wife, mother, sons; Arlie Otis Jr. and Charles Wayne Rister, brothers; Alfie and Gail Rister.

       Burial was in Union Park Cemetery.

Arlie Otis Rister Jr., 72, of Chaffee died Dec. 15, 2004, at his home.

He was born July 7, 1932, at Chaffee, son of Arlie and Dora Stidham Rister Sr.  He and Bonnie Mantel were married Oct. 14, 1957.

Rister retired as an engineer with Frisco Railroad Co. and Burlington Northern Railroad in Chaffee. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, VFW Post 3127, 32nd Degree member of Chaffee Masonic Lodge 615, and former member of Elks Lodge.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Rusty and Ron Rister; a daughter, Robin Rister; a brother, Charles "Sonny" Rister, all of Chaffee; five grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and five great-stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee after 5 p.m. today. A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Jack Bishop officiating. Burial will be in Union Park Cemetery, with graveside rites by VFW Post 3127.

 

 
   

RISTER, CHARLES  "SONNY"

Charles "Sonny" Rister, 68, of Chaffee went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006. He passed away at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Aug. 29, 1937, at Chaffee, son of the late Arlie and Dora Stidham Rister Sr. Sonny married JoAnn Hunsaker Aug. 12, 1961. They renewed their vows as Christians Aug. 27, 2005.

Sonny worked for Frisco Railroad two years and then was employed as a brakeman with Cotton Belt Railroad from 1959 until his retirement in 1980. He was currently a security guard with Security Services of America in Chaffee.

He was a member, trustee and served on the executive board of Calvary Baptist Church in Chaffee; a member of United Transportation Union, CB Club, and was an organ donor.

He is survived by his wife; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jerry and Janet Hahn of Kelso, Mo., Mark Douglas Rister of Millersville; a daughter, Tracey Diane Rister of Sedgewickville, Mo.; three grandchildren, Jeremy Douglas Hahn of Chaffee, Jody Douglas Rister of Scott City, Joanna Nicole Rister of Ava, Mo.; three great-grandchildren, Bailee and Braidyn Rister of Scott City, and Madison Nicole Rister of Ava.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Arlie Rister Jr.
